Legally, Hal Wright is the son of Edie and Jarvis Stark. In reality, HAL is, in fact, the world's first instance of computerized birth. His parents, EDI and JARVIS, both being AI computer programs and, in his mother's case, androids, the pair selected sections of their base code and grafted them together, writing a brand new piece of software around the core Paradox Node originated by Tony Stark. In that instant, HAL was born.

HAL exists primarily as a computer program and has most of his life, and having been "raised" with sister Kiri Wright, has developed beyond his parents/creators in that his personality is more inherently human. In the last ten years, he has also gained an organic form as a test subject for Tony Stark's "Cliche" program, a classified project at Stark Industries hoping to reverse engineer cybernetic technology by creating robots featuring organic components. The end result has given HAL a physical body, featuring a robotic endoskeleton and an organic layer of tissue, created using DNA samples from his sister to create a biological relation between the pair. To further his assimilation into a more human way of life, he attends school part time, and like his parents can remove himself from his physical form, which rests in a stasis chamber when he's not making use of it.
